Curriculum - Things that I did - Contact

Welcome

My name is Elroy Jumpertz and I am a Software Engineer from the Netherlands. I have a Master's degree in Computer Science and on this site you can read some things about my work.

Curriculum

In 2001 I graduated from high school. After that I spent one year studying Industrial Design at the Technical University in Eindhoven, and then I switched to Human Computer Interaction ("Mens & Informatica") at Fontys Hogescholen, Eindhoven. I completed my thesis at Philips Lighting in Eindhoven, and I received my Bachelor's degree in 2006.

After that, I studied Computer Science at the Radboud University Nijmegen. My specialization was Software Construction, and I did a minor in Mathematics. I completed my thesis at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, and I received my Master's degree in 2010.

I briefly worked as a junior researcher at the Model Based System Development department of the Computer Science faculty of the Radboud University, where I was working on automated structure learning of Bayesian networks. The research paper is still a draft.

Currently I'm employed as software engineer at Philips Lighting in Eindhoven. I'm developing .NET software enabling users to configure lamp hardware in an intuitive way.

Things that I did

Here are a number of things that I created, in no particular order.

Master thesis

In 2010 I wrote my Master thesis at the department of Programming Languages and Compilers of the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. I aimed to verify correctness of refactoring transformations carried out on Erlang code, by automated test case generation and evaluation of results using a custom built semantic evaluator. Download the thesis here.

Polynomial Size Analysis

The Polynomial Size Analysis tool was first developed by Ron van Kesteren, Olha Shkaravska and Marko van Eekelen of the Faculty of Computer Science at the Radboud University, and is based on theory documented in the paper "Inferring static non-monotonous size-aware types through testing". It was finished by Willem Peters, Bob Klaase and myself. The web interface was created by us as well. See it here.

Elroy's Recipes

I like to cook, I like to try new recipes, and I like to build websites. Therefore: Elroy's Recepten.

Color Composer

For my Bachelor thesis I created a .NET application for Philips Lighting. It allows a user to create a sequence of colors to be diplayed by specialized lighting equipment. In addition to being able to communicate with the lighting hardware, there was a focus on usability. It supports color sequence creation by means of a drag-and-drop interface, an ability to preview the color sequence both on-screen and in reality, etcetera.

Introduction to Functional Programming

For the January 2009 edition of "Volgens Bartjens", the magazine for the Faculty of Mathematics at the Radboud University Nijmegen, I wrote an article about functional programming. It gives a brief introduction into this style of programming and demonstrates some properties of the language Clean. Read it here.
